Q. How does AdStrategist differ from Google Analytics Multi-Channel Funnels?
In April, 2011, Google announced a limited pilot of a feature of Google Analytics called “Multi-Channel Funnels.” Thus far, they have not announced plans or timelines for availability beyond a small group of testers. This Google-centric feature is different from AdStrategist in three important ways:
- AdStrategist uses data that is already being collected by ad servers and web sites. The Google reports do not include ad server data so the insight they can provide is limited.
- AdStrategist provides full attribution modeling and gives you the option of defining the modeling parameters based on your campaign goals. There is no attribution modeling including in the Google reports.
- AdStrategist works with data from your marketing tools without locking you into a particular set of products. To use Google’s Multi-Channel Funnel, you must track your conversions using Google Goals, and to get the data most marketers would want, you should track your marketing campaigns with Google Campaign Tracking.

Q. What types of attribution does AdStrategist do?

- Last-click/Clickthrough
- Viewthrough (saw a display ad within a defined period then came to the site via search)
- Equal weighting (every ad exposure on a path receives the same value)
- Weighting based on position in exposure sequence and time before visit or conversion

Q. How long does it take to implement AdStrategist? What technical skills will our staff need?

AdStrategist customers contact their ad serving partner (for example, DART or Atlas) and arrange to receive log files. The customer then passes the file to AdStrategist via FTP and AdStrategist takes it from there.
